Anita received her Bachelor of Arts in English, Cum Laude, from the University of Georgia, in 1998. Anita graduated as a member of the Phi Beta Kappa Honor Society, Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society, and Golden National Key Honor Society. Anita then went on to receive her Juris Doctor (J.D.) from the University of Georgia, in 2001. She served as a Managing Editor and as a member of the Editorial Board for the Georgia Journal of International and Comparative Law from 1999 through 2001. Her note, The Extradition Proceedings Against General Augusto Pinochet: Is Justice Being Met Under International Law, was published in Vol. 29, No.1, Fall Issue 2000 of the Georgia Journal of International and Comparative Law.

Anita represents individuals and businesses, helping them solve problems related to civil disputes and criminal charges. As a former prosecutor and staff attorney at the trial and appellate courts, Anita has extensive trial experience and familiarity with criminal and civil procedure in Georgia. Anita maintains an insider’s view of courthouse procedures because she spent years working with judges on civil and criminal legal matters at local Magistrate and State Courts in Clayton and Fayette Counties and as a prosecutor in Superior Court in Coweta County. Anita also worked as a staff attorney in chambers with a judge at the Georgia Court of Appeals and understands how to zealously represent her clients appealing civil and criminal verdicts and rulings of the trial courts.

With over a decade of legal experience, Anita Clark works as a Practice Leader for our Employment/ Human Resource Consulting section of the firm, The Consensus Group. She assists employers in the investigation, assessment, and resolution of employee complaints, including but not limited to: Fair Labor Standard Act claims and EEOC employment discrimination claims based on age, race, gender, sexual orientation, pregnancy, disability, and retaliation. Anita has handled over 600 EEOC employment discrimination claims on behalf of fortune 100 companies. To have these matters dismissed at the charge stage when possible, Anita assists employers by communicating directly with EEOC investigators on their behalf, by drafting the employers’ written responses, and by preparing personnel for onsite investigations conducted by the EEOC. Anita also assists employers in resolving these matters via mediation and settlement discussions to reduce costs associated with litigation. Anita further assists both employers and employees in drafting, reviewing, and negotiating employment contracts and documents, such as, Severance Packages, Confidentiality Agreements, Non-Compete Contracts, and Employment Handbook Development and Maintenance.

Anita is also very involved in her community. Anita has a combined total of over 12 years volunteering in her community; as a Sunday school teacher, Board Member for the Jonesboro Housing Authority, Board Member for her neighborhood Homeowners’ Association, attorney coach for the Georgia High School Mock Trial Association, and as a teacher of United States Citizenship classes. Anita is also an active member of the State Bar of Georgia and the Fayette County Bar Association.
